Lecture Details

Endocrine:

Continuous Glucose Monitors: How To Use Them In Your Practice
Learn how a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) works, application techniques, and client communication on using a CGM. The course focuses on the FreeStyle Libre 14-Day System from Abbott.

Diabetic Ketoacidosis: Too High For Too Long
How can a veterinary technician help manage a patient with Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)? Understanding how to recognize and treat patients with newly diagnosed diabetes or an uncontrolled diabetes, helps both clients and patients have a better quality of life.

GI:

Normal Cat Vomiting: There’s No Such Thing
This course covers vomiting seen in feline patients and how to educate pet owners when to seek medical attention. We will discuss diet trials, medical management, and diagnostics commonly used in these patients. Many clients feel cats “normally” vomit and don’t seek out medical attention for a potentially life-threatening symptom. This course will help attendees navigate client conversations to help alleviate vomiting in feline patients.

Diarrhea Large Bowel Or Small Bowel: The Scoop On Understanding the #2
This session covers diarrhea in our canine and feline patients. Attendees will better understand the difference between large bowel and small bowel diarrhea, diagnostics commonly used for these patients, and how to treat diarrhea. This course will help attendees navigate client conversations to help the quality of life for both patients and clients.

Hematology:

Evans Syndrome: A Technician's Guide
This course covers Evans Syndrome, or immune mediated thrombocytopenia and immune mediated hemolytic anemia, how it relates to our patients, and what veterinary technicians need to know when treating these patients. We will discuss diagnostics, treatments, and client communication for Evans Syndrome.

Going Beyond The Quick And Dirty Crossmatch & Manual Platelet Counts
Let’s analyze the basics of canine and feline blood types, cross matches, and performing manual platelet counts.
