Yvonne Brandenburg, CVT, RVT, VTS (Internal Medicine - Small Animal)
Founder, Head of Education, & IMFVT Podcast Host
"The advancement of our industry is one that excites me, and I look forward to the opportunity of being in the forefront of creating a better profession.
Yvonne Brandenburg, RVT, CVT, VTS (Internal Medicine - Small Animal) is the Founder and Head of Education for Internal Medicine For Pet Parents and it's subsidiary, Internal Medicine For Vet Techs. She was the 2021 President for Academy of Internal Medicine for Veterinary Technicians.
Yvonne is a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in the state of California since 2005, a Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT) in the state of Oregon since 2023, and obtained her Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) designation in Internal Medicine - Small Animal in 2016. She is an author and a speaker at both local and international conferences, as well as a co-host with Jordan Porter, RVT, VTS (Internal Medicine - Small Animal) of the Internal Medicine For Vet Techs Podcast.
Yvonne started working in a general practice in 2003. After seven years she decided to challenge herself and became a veterinary technology program instructor at Carrington College California. She worked as an instructor for several years, as a vet tech program director for a year, and then found her way into SAGE Veterinary Centers, a specialty hospital, in 2012 where she worked with patients diagnosed with intricate diseases and in 2021 she became a Clinical Learning and Development Specialist for the company. In January of 2023, Yvonne and the entire SAGE L&D team, joined the Veterinary Nursing Development department at NVA/Ethos as Clinical Trainers.
Yvonne has presented on subjects related to SAIM at numerous conferences and continuing education providers including American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Forum, AVMA Convention, state veterinary and veterinary technician associations, UC Irvine Conti Symposium, in the Internal Medicine For Vet Techs Membership, and more. (See below for a list of lectures presented.)
In 2018, she founded Internal Medicine For Pet Parents, a website designed to help educate pet owners about the diseases their pets were diagnosed with. Visit www.internalmedicineforpetparents.com for resources for pet owners.
In 2019, Yvonne realized there was a need for a place dedicated to veterinary professionals interested in small animal internal medicine and Internal Medicine For Vet Techs was born. In 2019, she and her business partner, Jordan Porter, started the Internal Medicine For Vet Techs Podcast. In 2020, the company gained its AAVSB RACE approved provider status, including the IMFVT Podcast for CE hours, and added the Internal Medicine For Vet Techs Membership site for continuing education courses and a dedicated veterinary community.
